Partner Spotlight: Visit Charlotte

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the LGBT Meeting Professionals Association can deliver innovative education and meaningful connections year-round. Today, we're excited to spotlight one of our valued partners, Visit Boulder. Let's take a closer look at the organization helping make our work possible!

Get to know Visit Boulder!

Groups that meet in Boulder, Colorado, leave feeling restored. In Boulder, spectacular mountain scenery is a constant. Ready access to the outdoors adds variety to the agenda. Local, farm-fresh dining nourishes body and mind while Boulder’s laid-back, mindful culture welcomes everyone. In a word, Boulder is invigorating.

At Visit Boulder, a team of dedicated event professionals is excited to help you discover the best this incredible place has to offer. Known for their innovative ideas, the team delivers with Boulder’s unique venues, memorable outdoor experiences and award-winning restaurants to help you craft an itinerary that will exceed your client’s expectations and leave the group reminiscing about their time here.

What are some of the flagship products or services offered by your organization? Could you highlight a few key features or benefits of each?

Visit Boulder offers seasonal cash incentives to approved organizations when competing against other destinations. Incentives are awarded for events that occur between October 1 and April 30 and are based on the number of room nights booked. During that time, Boulder’s weather is mild and beautiful. Groups taking advantage of the seasonal cash incentive have access to the same views and outdoor activities Boulder is known for, at the best value.

Once you’ve booked, Visit Boulder’s Destination Events Manager is your Boulder meeting concierge. Together, you’ll craft the perfect itinerary to make your meeting shine. Boardroom venues and lobby receptions are only the beginning. Think ornate teahouse straight from Tajikistan and a historic mountain climbers' clubhouse, complemented by only-in-Boulder group activities like e-biking to a farm, team-building at an aerial dance studio, or an outdoor scavenger hunt.

What sets your organization apart from other companies in the industry?

You know that feeling when a place just clicks with your group? That’s Boulder. We hear it time and again: groups leave Boulder feeling different, in the best of ways. We think it’s the ease and charm of a walkable, historic downtown, the always-present Flatirons and fresh air, the nourishing, farm-fresh dining and a culture of sustainability and wellness.

Attendees can move from a keynote session at Boulder’s brand-new conference center to a networking reception with mountain views, an award-winning restaurant, a brainstorm on a patio in the sunshine or connect over tea in a so-beautiful-it’s-unreal Tajikstani teahouse— all without ever boarding a shuttle.

How does your organization prioritize customer satisfaction and ensure a positive experience for its clients?

Visit Boulder wants to set meeting planners up for success and for attendees to leave already planning to come back. That’s where Visit Boulder’s Destination Events Manager comes in: their job is to ensure a positive experience. After a meeting is booked, planners can work alongside the Destination Events Manager as much or as little as needed to craft the perfect meeting for their client. And it shows. Visit Boulder has earned multiple Smart Meetings Platinum Choice Awards, which honor exceptional destinations and venues worldwide.

Can you share what your organization is doing to create diverse, inclusive and equitable meetings experiences?

Building on Boulder’s long history of inclusion, Visit Boulder offers an award-winning inclusivity training for hospitality partners. Participating businesses earn an official Welcoming & Belonging Certified Business designation after completing a specialized program.

Also, the team is working with Wheel the World to certify and list accessible hotels and experiences, which the sales team will use in their work assisting meeting planners.

Why is it important to your organization to support the LGBTQIA+ community?

Inclusion isn’t just a Visit Boulder priority; it’s a community standard.

  • Boulder consistently earns the maximum score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual Municipal Equality Index, which demonstrates how municipalities support the LGBTQ+ people who live and work there.
  • A community of allies has supported LGBTQ rights for decades, starting at least as early as 1975 when Boulder became the first city to issue a same-sex marriage license. In 2019, the Boulder County Courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
  • There is a strong presence of events, festivals and organizations supporting Boulder’s queer culture year-round.

Every day, the Visit Boulder team strives to promote beliefs grounded in both our organization and the community, ensuring kindness, compassion and a tangible sense of welcomeness in our work.

What does the future hold for your organization? Are there any upcoming events, partnerships, or initiatives that our members should be excited about?

The Sundance Film Festival moved to Boulder! In January 2027, Boulder will host the festival and welcome its wide range of attendees for the first time. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch films at iconic venues, experience Boulder’s mild winters, enjoy award-winning food and a fun art scene. We can’t wait.
