LGBT Meeting Professionals Association Announces New Strategic Priorities
Alexandria, VA. – The LGBT Meeting Professionals Association (LGBT MPA), the association representing planners, suppliers, educators, and students in the global events community, is pleased to announce their new strategic priorities focused on: Advocating for the LGBTQ+ Global Events Community, Educating Diverse Audiences, Enhancing Partner Relations, and Growing & Engaging Membership.
Kyle F. Jordan, CAE, CEM-AP, CMP, DES (he/him/his), chair of LGBT MPA, stated “The decision to establish these strategic priorities stems from our commitment to connecting, empowering, and advancing the events community through LGBTQ+ advocacy, education, and research. By aligning our work with our mission and vision, we’re ensuring that the voices of our community continue to influence and shape global events industry where all are accepted, equal, and belong.”
LGBT MPA’s new strategic priorities were developed directly from member, annual partner, nonmember, and key stakeholder feedback, and are aligned with the mission, vision, bylaws, membership opportunities, and annual partnerships that were released on April 9, 2024. To ensure diverse representation, the LGBT MPA Board of Directors, Champion partners, and key industry stakeholders collaborated during a two-day retreat, facilitated by their executive director, to determine the future of the organization.
"As we look ahead for LGBT MPA, our strategic plan will not only guide our future growth and solidify the lasting influence and impact of our efforts, ensuring that the LGBTQ+ voice continues to lead the way in ensuring a truly inclusive and equitable meeting and events industry,” stated Gary Murakami, GTP, GLP, CMP-Fellow, CMM, DES (he/him/his), LGBT MPA Chair Elect.
Under each priority are key objectives that support the LGBTQ+ community, event professionals, and organizations. These objectives include serving as the voice of the LGBTQ+ events community, developing best practices and recommended guidelines, facilitating connections and business development opportunities, collecting data to create market insight tools and research opportunities, leading experiential opportunities that facilitate inclusive connection opportunities, etc. Access the detailed list here: LGBT MPA Strategic Priorities
“Strategic priorities are the key to an organization’s success,” shared LGBT MPA’s executive director Cameron Curtis, CMM, CAE (she/her/hers). “After the launch of our new mission and vision earlier this year, it was critical for LGBT MPA to develop a road map that will help us fulfill that mission and achieve our vision of a global events community where all are accepted, equal, and belong. I’m proud of the work we’ve done over the last year to stabilize and build a strong foundation for LGBT MPA, and I’m excited to collaborate with our board of directors, committees, partners, members, and other key stakeholders to put this road map into action.
